What happens during an annual physical?
During an annual physical your provider will take your vital signs. These include blood pressure, temperature, height and weight. Once those are taken the physician will then discuss any concerns you may have with your body and any abnormalities that you may have noticed. Your provider may draw blood to be sent away for testing for things like diabetes, cell counts and other diseases. If you are due for any immunizations or vaccinations, you can receive those during your visit.
What should I do to prepare for my physical?
Before you go for your annual physical there are some things you should prepare for your physician. It is recommended that you bring a list of medications you are currently taking so your doctor can determine if there are any contraindications with new possible medication you may need. Also, it is recommended to bring a list of your immunizations and past medical information including any past surgeries you may have had.
What is a Work Physical?
A work physical is a pre-employment medical exam that employers may require new hires to complete to ensure they are physically and mentally capable of doing the job they have applied to perform. This allows companies to evaluate the overall health status of prospective employees so that they can make an informed decision about who they hire. This is important to make sure the employees are able to perform the job they will endure if hired.
What happens during a Work Physical?
In general, a work physical includes checking a candidate's vital signs, weight, temperature, pulse and blood pressure. It may also include specific tests wanted by the employer such as a drug and alcohol screen, physical ability and stamina testing. This can also include psychological testing if it is requested.
How can I Prepare for my Work Physical?
In order for you to prepare for your work physical there may be some things you have to do prior to your appointment. If your employer has send you any pre-employment paperwork to fill out we recommend that you fill out what you can before the physical and bring it to your appointment. You may also have to bring certain things including a valid drivers license or ID, glasses, hearing aids and list of current medications. If you had any past surgeries we recommend bring that information with you as well as immunization history, current medical diseases and allergies.
