1. What is a CDL?
CDL is short for commercial driver’s license. It is an important government authorized document that allows people and employees of companies to drive commercial vehicles. This is required for employees that work for companies that take a lot of shipments or those companies that prefer to allow their employees to drive with their logos/labels on their vehicles.
2. Is a CDL physical the same as a regular annual physical?
A CDL is not the same as an annual physical. This is because drivers often cross state lines when transporting products and there are safety requirements that are the same for all drivers everywhere.
3. What happens during a CDL visit?
During your appointment the physician will assess your physical and mental health to ensure no medical conditions will interfere with your ability to drive and operate a vehicle safely. The Physician performs a series of tests to check your blood pressure, vision, hearing, digestive and mental health.
4. How often do you have to get a CDL?
A commercial driver which includes CDL drivers must be medically certified at least once a year. The original or photocopy of the medical examiner’s certificate must be provided to carry on his/her person.
